The Decorating Service
IN GENERAL
We are able to offer a range of mobile services designed to help around the home. They range from our Handyperson Service for odd jobs and small repairs, a Gardening Service for mowing grass to low maintenance changes, and a Decorating Service for minor paint works or a whole room.
Who is eligible?
All services are available to older or disabled homeowners and private tenants, or those with limited finances. A simple telephone call will tell you if you are eligible to benefit from the service. Referrals can be taken from individuals or through agencies such as Age Concern, Citizens Advice Bureau or Social Services.
Is there a charge?
Yes, these subsidised services are primarily funded by charities with some assistance from the local authority. However, it costs around £120,000 a year to run these services and whilst we are able to subsidise the cost by donations from charitable trusts we still ask for help towards the running cost of the service.
THE DECORATING SERVICE
Most types of decoration can be carried out, from freshening up tired and old paintwork to decorating a whole room, and from painting/varnishing exterior doors and windows to painting exterior masonry.
▪ Repaint interior: walls, ceilings, skirting boards, doors, window frames etc.
▪ Repairs (only) to wallpaper.
▪ Repaint/varnish exterior doors, window frames, facia boards etc. (to a maximum two storey height).
▪ Masonry paint work.
▪ Repainting garage doors, fencing and sheds.
How much will it cost me?
As room sizes and finishes vary our decorator will initially visit your property to discuss the works you require, we will then provide you with a written quotation and it is then up to you whether or not you wish to proceed - you are under no obligation.
Do I need to supply the paint?
This is entirely up to you. You may wish to supply your own paints and we supply sundries such as filler, sand paper, white spirit etc. Alternatively we can purchase the paints on your behalf. This can all be discussed, along with colour schemes, when the decorator visits to give a quotation.
The decorator cannot undertake
▪ Works above two stories high.
▪ Hanging wallpaper.
